Academic Center of Tampa provides one-on-one instruction to every student. There is no waiting for available instructors who may be working with several other students simultaneously.

Tutoring Style
Academic Center of Tampa's tutoring style is based on positive reinforcement. Students perform better when receiving positive feedback, and will often exceed expectations when repeatedly given the opportunity to do so.

Materials
Based on an initial evaluation (at no cost), a program will be devised for your child. This program will automatically be dual-based. This means that your child will receive instruction based on the needs displayed on the initial evaluation as well as homework based help. For all homework needs, the student will provide the necessary materials (i.e. books, folders, assignments). For all other instruction, Academic Center will provide materials.

Progress

All students will progress at various rates. One must remember that a solution to a student falling behind cannot be found overnight. This is a process. It is a process that all parties must be committed to see through to completion.

Experience

With over a decade of experience in the educational industry, the Executive Director has a direct history tutoring students, and has received many accolades for her work helping students improve their grades and gain self confidence.

Working with the School

As is often the case with tutoring, results don't show immediately in the classroom which can be frustrating for both the student and parent. The reason for this is simple. Some tutoring may provide help with homework, but the very reason why the student needs the help is not addressed. Rather, the immediate task (homework or project) is addressed and the tutor moves on. Or, on the other hand, some tutoring may only address weaknesses, and once focused on those weaknesses, the schools tasks (homework and projects) are largely ignored. This, obviously, causes two problems. One, the student continues to do poorly in the classroom. Two, the student feels a sense of shame and failure. After all, wouldn't you feel badly if someone provided you with help because you had been struggling and you still continued to get poor grades?

That is precisely why Academic Center of Tampa’s program works. It is tailor made for each individual student while catering to the needs in the classroom, remediation, and enrichment. We will know the skills your child is struggling with in the classroom and we will concentrate on improving those areas. You will not find another program so involved in the specific needs of your child.
